Below we have put together an extensive post which contains our most frequently asked questions.
Feel free to skip to the one(s) you long to hear the answer(s) to, (if we have them of course) and if you have any further questions, please email us. There will be multiple answers in some, and others that cross over, so if you feel you still have a question, please scan through other questions first to check if they answer you before sending them our way.
We think we have covered everything that we have the answers to so far, but we might have missed a few stragglers.
We have put everything we know into these questions, and we are only updating you with true information. Please refrain from following the tabloids that seem to be hindering rather than helping.
HOW WILL I KNOW WHEN I CAN BOOK IN?
We have now sent out an email, and a text with a link for you to follow. This contains all the details of:
∆When our phone lines will open.
∆When we will be reopening for business.
∆How we have made our environment safe.
∆How we will work from that day forward to service you all as quickly as we can.
∆New rules on appointment bookings.
∆Strict new policy on what you as clients must read, and follow.
∆Strict new policy on what we as staff will be following.
∆What procedures we cannot perform (if any).
∆How you can book an appointment.
If you did not receive this please update us with your new contact details or if we do not have your mobile or email, send it over to us and we will update your profile on the database.
HOW WILL I BE ABLE TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?
Once we have reopened our phone lines on the 7th of July at 9am, you will be able to either book an appointment through our website using the online booking service for cuts, or you will be able to give us a call on 01606 330 879. Unfortunately we will not be taking any bookings over email/messages/social media due to it being so inefficient and having such a huge number of people to get through. Please be understanding of this as we try to keep things clean, controlled, and fair. We want to maintain a high level of professionalism, and this is the only way we can see us doing so. Sadly if you have not visited us at the House within the last year, we are having to class you in the new client bracket - please go down to the question for the information on this.
ARE MY APPOINTMENTS STILL BOOKED IN THAT I MADE PRE-LOCKDOWN?
No. Unfortunately we wiped every appointment for the entire year when we cancelled everyone back in March. Any appointment you have noted for the future is no longer an appointment. We apologise if this wasn't made clear enough when we called you. The reason for this method is that we have no other way of making it fair once reopening, as everybody will be desperate for their hair to be done. Some of you like to rebook future appointments for an entire year, which in normal circumstances is great! But in this covid ridden time, and backlog we are about to face, we simply can't allow it.
WILL IT BE THE SAME AS BEFORE?
No. Sadly as this pandemic has been so brutal, we are having to make big changes to how our House works in the future compared to how we ran before. We will still try to make our space as fun and as friendly as we normally do, and sure, it might look a little different to your pre-lockdown visit, but we are all still the same! We shall be giggling, pampering and preening, still with a skip in our step, and the odd bit of banter, we promise.
WHAT CHANGES WILL BE MADE?
We have put in place strict social distancing measures to keep you safe as visitors, and our staff safe. You will notice the following changes:
△ Sanitisation station at the point of entrance & available hand sanitiser's throughout the salon.
△ Partition screens between each sink at the backwash area.
△ Empty section will be left between each cutting / colour section to allow for 2m social distancing.
△ Full sanitisation of all tools, chairs & sections after every client's appointment.
△ Thorough sanitisation of toilet after every use.
△ Strict sickness policy is in place for staff & clients who have potential COVID 19 symptoms.
△ No drinks menu sadly, but also no drinks/food will be able to be brought with you. We can supply bottled water.
△ More frequent cleaning of common touch points.
△ Temporary £5 covid surcharge on top of appointments. (See below).
△ Visors will be worn by staff at all times.
△ Disposable biodegradable gowns will be provided for clients as well as a disposable mask.
△ Temporary suspension on certain services. (See below).
∆ Swapped out use of towels to disposable biodegradable towels.
△ Locked door policy. (See below).
△ Appointments will only be taken through the online booking system or through calling the salon. (See below).
CAN I BRING ANYONE WITH ME TO MY APPOINTMENT? WHAT ABOUT MY KIDS?
We are very sorry to have to say this but we are having to be very strict on allowing single person appointments only. This means that you cannot bring anyone with you during your visit to the house, including children. We know and understand that this will not be favourable to many of you, but please understand what we are facing as a business. We are going to be working to strict capacity limits, for yours and our team's safety. We are about to face a very tough time and we need your full understanding and cooperation on this. For any questions on children's appointments, unfortunately we have had to temporarily suspend under 16s, but we will be revising this regularly.
IVE NOT VISITED YOU BEFORE, WHEN CAN I BOOK IN?
With the new restrictions we will face once we reopen, we are only able to run at a very low capacity, this means that we are unable to take on any new clients for the foreseeable future or just until we have managed to catch up with our current clientele and get on top of everything again. This also includes if you have not visited us in the last year. This has been a really hard decision and a tough time to have to try to manage but we feel that this is our only option to remain fair to our loyal following. Please keep us in mind for your future hair, we will be putting up information for newbies and what we can do and when on our social media channels / website. It should only be for a few months, but its hard to gage at this moment in time.
HOW LONG DO YOU THINK I WILL HAVE TO WAIT TO BE SEEN ONCE YOU REOPEN?
This is too hard a question for us to answer sadly. Running to a lower capacity with such a high demand is definatley has its struggles, it is stressful, and we know we aren't going to be able to please you all with how we are able to manage this. The distancing measures are for the safety of you - our wonderful clients but also for our team. We have added a few express services on colour, meaning smaller appointment times for usually bigger services, to be able to meet this demand quicker.
CAN I BOOK THE DAY OUT PLEASE?!
Obviously we know all of you will probably need extensive hair help! We are working on it. We will be figuring out how we can give you maximum impact in smaller doses. We would love to see you all looking back to your coiffed selves, but before we book any revamps/overhauls/full on creative sessions/full head foils etc we need to solely focus on getting you all looking fresh. You know us, there's nothing we love more than a good makeover but with the current high demand, we think its only fair if we get everyone seen as quickly as we can, once this has calmed down we can get down and sassy with a massive change.
DOES EVERYONE NEED A RE-SKINTESTING?
There will be many of you that are going to be needing an updated skin test. We know this is annoying/frustraiting/inconvenient for you, and an added pressure on us with having to now book skin tests as an appointment, but we simply have to adhere to law. If we have not seen you for colour in the last 6 months, if your appointment falls in to this bracket, or if you have applied any colour to your hair since we last coloured it for you, we will unfortunaltey need to call you back in for a re application at least 48hrs prior to any colour service. Please let us know if you think you fall in to this catagory.
CAN I POP DOWN ON THE OFF CHANCE YOU WILL BE AVAILABLE TO DO MY HAIR?
Now we have reopened, we are having to run a strict 'locked door' policy. This means that we will not be able to let you in if you do not have an appointment. We cannot talk through the door to book you either, as we are needing to keep the environment safe, our computer is at the desk, and shouting is not an option. We will be able to book you in via the phone line (poor MOTH) or through the online booking system which is available for your use through our website.
IM CLASSED VULNERABLE/HIGH RISK, WILL YOU BE DOING HOME VISITS?
Unfortunately, as we have never done a home visit previously and this is not a part of our business model, we are unable to offer this as an extended service. Apart from the safety issue, we are a small salon with a small team and all hands will be much needed on deck. We have set allocated times for the category of higher risk humans, all you will need to do is bring with you your high risk issued letter as proof, or ID if your rocking the 70+ - we will need to see this so that we know we are not putting anyone at further risk at those times. For a high risk / vunerable appointment please call us up on the salon phone line and let us know that you require this type of slot. Sadly you won't be able to book for this online as we have had to block those times out to keep it manageable.
WHY ARE YOU CHARGING ME A £5 SURCHARGE?
Here at House of Quirk we have not increased our prices this year, but due to us having to work to such a strictly limited capacity of clients, all of the PPE /new measures, and bringing back all of our staff to work as efficiently as we can, we have been forced to temporarily add on a £5 fee to help us remain open for business. We really wish we did not have to do this. We are concious that everyone is facing a tough time financially at the moment so would not do this unless we absolutely had to. We are hoping to drop the temporary charge as soon as 8 are able to drop the social distancing, ppe and capacity measures. We hope you can understand our reasons for this and hoping you can see what pressures we are facing.
WILL YOUR TOILET BE AVAILABLE FOR USE?
Yes! We will not make you cross your legs and cry silently don't worry. We will be keeping on top of cleaning the bathroom after every use, so please make a team member aware after you have used the facilities if they haven't already seen you.
CAN I BRING MY OWN COFFEE/DRINK/SANDWICH WITH ME?
Currently we are unable to allow anyone to bring any food or drink items with them. This is because we are having to follow government guidelines. We apologise for this but we are able to give you bottled water upon request so you don't dehydrate, as this is classed as a nessessity for human health.
WHY DO I HAVE TO TURN UP DEAD ON MY APPOINTMENT TIME?
As we are unable to use our cosy indoor waiting area, we are having to manage queues and prevent congregation outside the salon doors. We have got a few chairs available outside which are spaced out to socially distance from each other and also from the front door for entering and exiting. We are having to keep a smooth turnaround of appointments, as we are only able to have one client in the building per stylist at any one time. We cannot allow you in to see your stylist until their previous client has exited and everthing has as been fully sanitised ready for your welcoming. Please bear with us as we will be under a lot of pressure during this next stage of House life, we will try our best to see you as soon as we possibly can. To help keep on top of this, if you arrive late to your appointment we will be forced to reschedule you as we have to work to so many new measures that we cannot afford to be as lenient as we sometimes can be. Don't make us be the bad guys!
WHAT SERVICES ARE TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED?
We have temporarily suspended the following services:
△ Under 16's.
△ All colour changes / corrective work.
△ All 'Manic Panic' work.
△ Style bar appointments and tutorials.
△Hair Extension appointments.
△ 'Kerastraight' appointments.
△ Fringe Trim appointments.
△ Full head foils.
△ Consultation appointments.
WHEN WILL THE TEMPORARY SERVICES RESUME?
We are hoping to bring these temporary changes back as soon as we can. Sadly we cannot give a time frame on this just yet but we will be constantly revising this so please keep checking back on our social media platforms or website. We will bring things back in phases so some services may appear again before others.
WHY AREN'T YOU TAKING APPOINTMENTS FOR UNDER 16'S IF THEY CAN ATTEND ALONE?
This is a suspended service and we know that this is not ideal for many of you. We are currently facing a demand like never before, and there are quite a lot of our clients at the moment that are needing appointments to get themselves looking sharp for job interviews due to unforeseen circumstances. To keep availability easy for those affected and also for those clients who are unable to work from home, we feel that this is important to be able to offer as much availability as possible. There are also our under 16's that need assistance which is not possible at this point due to us having to control the amount of bodies in the building. Some of our under 16's that can attend alone may not behave for our stylists, so to keep us from having to manage these last reasons, we felt the best way was to temporarily suspend all under 16's.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY 'LOCKED DOOR' POLICY?
As we are having to work to a strict limited capacity of humans in the building at any one time, we are only admitting those of you who have a pre booked appointment with us. If you do not have an appointment and you turn up to the salon, sadly we cannot let you in. All appointments must be booked in advance and this can be done through calling us up at the salon or by booking through our website's online booking system.
HOW COME I CANT BOOK WITH YOU OVER EMAIL OR FACEBOOK/INSTAGRAM?
Unfortunately we will not be taking any bookings over email/messages/social media due to it being so inefficient and having such a huge number of people to get through. Please be understanding of this as we try to keep things clean, controlled, and fair. We want to maintain a high level of professionalism, and this is the only way we can see us doing so. CAN I BRING A HANDBAG WITH ME?
Yes, you are able to bring a small bag with you that will be able to fit on your lap or in the foot well of the mirror, unfortunately we cannot accommodate for you to bring anything big or any shopping bags so please leave these in the car or drop them at home prior to your appointment.
